Pforty Mile Trail Challenge

Post Date:01/01/2018 9:00 AM

The Parks and Recreation Department encourages residents to participate in a new Pforty Mile Trail challenge from January 1 through March 24. Participants may walk, bike or run on any of Pflugerville’s more than 40 miles of trails.  The first 40 people to complete the challenge can visit the Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, to claim a Pflugerville sports bag and water bottle prize.

How to participate:

  1. Start using Pflugerville Trails. Participants may walk, bike or run, on one or all trails to complete the challenge, as long as the distance traveled totals 40 miles. Visit the interactive map for a list of trails or download the most updated trail map at
  2. Participants can use any method to log miles traveled, however the Parks and Recreation Department recommends a account to track progress. Participants can “Pfriend” Pflugerville Parks and Recreation for the city to track a participant’s progress.

The Pforty Mile Trail Challenge was first introduced in July 2017, to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. Parks and Recreation Director, James Hemenes encourages residents to participate in the challenge. “Whether it’s your favorite park trail or one that you have yet to explore, we encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the outdoor leisure and exercise opportunities that Pflugerville has to offer,” Hemenes said.

The Pforty Mile Trail Challenge is an opportunity to start preparing for the Deutschen Pfest 5K Pfun Run and Kids 1K. Registration is underway for the event set for Sunday, May 20, 2018 online at
