This list is updated as new classes are added throughout the season.


SCHOLARSHIPS: Visit the Community Development Block Grant webpage to learn more about the Youth Recreation Scholarship Program. Participants need to be enrolled in a school's free lunch program.

Ignite your interest in science and technology's most fascinating field of today and tomorrow, ROBOTICS! Class is designed for all ages. In teams, build then use EV3 software to command your robot to explore, conduct experiments and use innovative engineering design processes while learning the latest technology. Advance to Level 2 and explore the possibility to begin in the world of competitive robotics.

Mostly Muscles

  • Fall classes will resume on September 5
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:45 a.m.
  • $45 for a 10-class punch card or $6 per class

Aerobic and conditioning movements to target large and small muscle groups. Class will be a mixture of using step, weights, stretch bands, exercise balls and weighted bars. It is for all levels of abilities. Dress in lightweight workout clothes. Bring a yoga mat and water to drink. Instructor: Linda Spataro.

Senior Yoga

  • Location: Windermere Clubhouse, 16800 Gower Street.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • August 1 - 31   *No class 8/8, 8/10, 8/15, 8/17 - class fee is $30 for August
  • Fall dates TBA
  • $40 per month or $8 per class

A yoga class designed for seniors who are able to get down on the floor. Chairs will be provided for those who need time and training on how to effectively move to the floor using props, etc. Effective use of props will be encouraged and demonstrated. This class is scheduled to meet twice a week.

Students: Please bring your own mat, one or two yoga blocks, yoga strap, a large beach town or small blanket, a small pillow, and a bottle of water for drinking.

Adult Fitness

This low-impact fitness class is great for seniors, low mobility persons, or adults with rehab or physical therapy issues. This class will fit your needs.

Previous tap dance experience required. This high-energy class will bring rhythm to your dancing feet. You’ll use the basics and intermediate steps to build increasingly complex rhythms, patterns and steps. Enshin Karate

Instructor Sensei Andrew Budd teaches both children and adults the practical system of empty-handed self defense, known as Enshin Karate. Enshin Karate stresses the development of flexibility, power, and speed with emphasis on stretching, conditioning, and technique. Training builds spiritual awareness, mental alertness, a sense of confidence, as well providing resources for meeting life's challenges.

Evening Yoga

Archery

  • Location:Heritage Park, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road. (inside the Green Red Barn during rainy conditions)

Learn the Olympic Sport of archery in this beginner-level class. The skills of modern-day archery with USA Archery Associates techniques will be learned through skill drills, active shooting, and games. All equipment is provided. Students should dress accordingly. Instructor: Ron Dahlseid.

Tennis

Ladies' Singles Tournament

Entries should be received by Aug. 24. This will be a single elimination tournament.

Tai Chi

One centered person between Heaven and Earth. Tai Chi is a slow, continuous, relaxed and focused movement. It provides the benefits of meditation, the positive effects of exercise, and helps to improve coordination, flexibility, and balance. Tai Chi can help you reduce stress and attain feelings of well-being. This class will teach you the 24 movements of the simplified form and is suitable for both beginner and continuing students. M.O.V.E.

 What is M.O.V.E.? Each session will motivate and engage your mind, body, and soul. Sessions include exercises that condition the body, challenge and develop balance & strength using hand weights, ankle weights, and resistance bands. M.O.V.E. sessions also include breathing exercises, stretching exercises, laughter yoga, meditation and mindfulness.

Senior line dancing

Senior Ballroom Dance

Join us each Friday and learn to dance with renowned dance instructor Mr. George Blaha. Couples or singles welcome!

Senior Line Dancing

(Senior Club members - join today!)

  • Beginner and Intermediate: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the gymnasium
  • Advanced: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Windermere Clubhouse, 16800 Gower St.

Participants are asked to join and pay the low-cost annual membership dues to Senior Activity Center. Adults ages 55 and older learn a variety of steps to music from years gone by and today's contemporary hits. Classes are held in the gymnasium at the Recreation Center.


Open League Play

Pickleball

  • Every Thursday, 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Recreation Center Gymnasium
  • Cost: current Recreation Center membership or purchase a $5 one-day pass at the front desk

Come learn something new! Pickleball is a low-net game, with a court size similar to tennis. The game is played in singles or doubles with a wiffle ball and paddle similar size to a ping-pong paddle.

Adult Volleyball

  • Sundays, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Summer League ongoing--To register as an individual and help out a team in need, contact Suzie Galloway by email at suzieg@pflugervilletx.gov or by phone at 512-990-6350.

This adult league includes all ability levels! There's still space to sign up your team, or just join yourself and help out a team in need of a teammate! This league takes place after the Recreation Center closes every Sunday (unless otherwise noted on the completed game schedule) starting at 6 p.m. Team sign-up forms can be picked up at the Recreation Center.

Mommy and Me Making Music classes are designed to promote social, cognitive, and communication skills through interactive music and singing in a fun and loving environment. Ages 6 months to 3 years old.

  • 10% discount if paid in full at registration, OR,
  • Set-up a payment plan and pay half at registration and the other half will be due by November 4. After November 4 , late fees will be applied.

Does your child want dance classes, but you don't want to commit to the whole school year? Want to offer them the experience of dance class, but not sure if they're ready? Try a short session! One hour class combines ballet and tap (with a bit of tumbling), in an environment rich with props, music, and even costumed characters. Activities in this fun-filled class teach developmentally appropriate skills, encourage creativity, and help the students develop rhythm and coordination.

Payment Policies

  • Pay with cash, check, MasterCard, VISA or American Express cards.
  • Some classes offer payment plans. See class descriptions for details.
  • Refunds of paid fees will be given if a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements and an alternate class cannot be found.
  • Cancellations will be accepted up to one week before the start of a session. A $7 administrative fee will be retained by the city.
  • If cancellation occurs within 7 days of the start or after start of a class, no refunds will be given.

Class Policies

  • One does not have to be a member of the Recreation Center to participate in classes, sports leagues or workshops.
  • Members do not receive discounts on costs of Recreation Center classes.
  • All classes are age-appropriate and age requirements are enforced for the safety of all participants.
  • Please, no children in adult classes as participants or observers.
  • Classes, fees and times are subject to change without prior notice and at the discretion of the instructor(s).
  • Classes without the minimum required number of enrolled participants will be canceled and refunds or credits provided.
