This list is updated as new classes are added throughout the season.


SCHOLARSHIPS: Visit the Community Development Block Grant webpage to learn more about the Youth Recreation Scholarship Program. Participants need to be enrolled in a school's free lunch program.

Classes are held at the Pflugerville Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Road, unless otherwise stated.

Adult Active and Educational Classes

Ignite your interest in science and technology's most fascinating field of today and tomorrow, ROBOTICS! Class is designed for all ages. In teams, build then use EV3 software to command your robot to explore, conduct experiments and use innovative engineering design processes while learning the latest technology. Advance to Level 2 and explore the possibility to begin in the world of competitive robotics.

Adult Fitness

This low-impact fitness class is great for seniors, low mobility persons, or adults with rehab or physical therapy issues. This class will fit your needs.

 

Adult Tap Dance

Previous tap dance experience required. This high-energy class will bring rhythm to your dancing feet. Enshin Karate

Instructor Sensei Andrew Budd teaches both children and adults the practical system of empty-handed self defense, known as Enshin Karate. Enshin Karate stresses the development of flexibility, power, and speed with emphasis on stretching, conditioning, and technique. Training builds spiritual awareness, mental alertness, a sense of confidence, as well providing resources for meeting life's challenges.

Evening Yoga

  • $60 on-time fee for 6-week session

Archery

  • Location:Heritage Park, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road. (inside the Green Red Barn during rainy conditions)

Learn the Olympic Sport of archery in this beginner-level class. The skills of modern-day archery with USA Archery Associates techniques will be learned through skill drills, active shooting, and games. All equipment is provided. Students should dress accordingly. Instructor: Ron Dahlseid.

Tennis

No adult classes in Winter.

  • $66 for an 8-week session + new can of tennis balls

Learn new techniques, get some exercise and improve coordination. Bring a new can of tennis balls and water to drink. Instructor: Alex W. Porter, USPTA.

Tai Chi

One centered person between Heaven and Earth. Tai Chi is a slow, continuous, relaxed and focused movement. It provides the benefits of meditation, the positive effects of exercise, and helps to improve coordination, flexibility, and balance. Tai Chi can help you reduce stress and attain feelings of well-being. This class will teach you the 24 movements of the simplified form and is suitable for both beginner and continuing students.   • Advanced: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Windermere Clubhouse, 16800 Gower St.

Participants are asked to join and pay the low-cost annual membership dues to Senior Activity Center. Adults ages 55 and older learn a variety of steps to music from years gone by and today's contemporary hits. Classes are held in the gymnasium at the Recreation Center.


Open League Play

Pickleball

  • Every Thursday, 5 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Recreation Center Gymnasium
  • Cost: current Recreation Center membership or purchase a $5 one-day pass at the front desk

Come learn something new! Pickleball is a low-net game, with a court size similar to tennis. The game is played in singles or doubles with a wiffle ball and paddle similar size to a ping-pong paddle.

Adult Volleyball

This adult league includes all ability levels! There's still space to sign up your team, or just join yourself and help out a team in need of a teammate! This league takes place after the Recreation Center closes every Sunday (unless otherwise noted on the completed game schedule) starting at 6 p.m. Team sign-up forms can be picked up at the Recreation Center.

Sand Adult Volleyball

Sports Sampler Camp

Skyhawks and the Pflugerville Parks Dept. have teamed up! At the Sports Sampler Camp kids will experience multiple sports in one day by rotating through a variety of sport stations, and will have the opportunity to check out a sport for the first time or further develop current skills. Basketball Clinic

Using our progressional curriculum and focusing on the whole player, we teach your child the skills they need for both on and off the court to be a better athlete. Our sport specific staff will focus on respect, teamwork and responsibility as they will start each day with a 'skill of the day' and progress in to drills and games making an unforgettable experience for your young athlete. After a progressive class of passing, shooting, dribbling and rebounding you will see why this is one of our most popular programs. At each camp we place campers into groups based on age and ability. Mommy and Me Making Music classes are designed to promote social, cognitive, and communication skills through interactive music and singing in a fun and loving environment. Ages 6 months to 3 years old.

Must register by September 2 for the following discount/payment plan:

  • 10% discount if paid in full at registration, OR,
  • Set-up a payment plan and pay half at registration and the other half will be due by November 4. After November 4 , late fees will be applied.

Short-Session Dance

Does your child want dance classes, but you don't want to commit to the whole school year? Want to offer them the experience of dance class, but not sure if they're ready? Try a short session! One hour class combines ballet and tap (with a bit of tumbling), in an environment rich with props, music, and even costumed characters. Activities in this fun-filled class teach developmentally appropriate skills, encourage creativity, and help the students develop rhythm and coordination.

Payment Policies

  • Pay with cash, check, MasterCard, VISA or American Express cards.
  • Some classes offer payment plans. See class descriptions for details.
  • Refunds of paid fees will be given if a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements and an alternate class cannot be found.
  • Cancellations will be accepted up to one week before the start of a session. A $7 administrative fee will be retained by the city.
  • If cancellation occurs within 7 days of the start or after start of a class, no refunds will be given.

Class Policies

  • One does not have to be a member of the Recreation Center to participate in classes, sports leagues or workshops.
  • Members do not receive discounts on costs of Recreation Center classes.
  • All classes are age-appropriate and age requirements are enforced for the safety of all participants.
  • Please, no children in adult classes as participants or observers.
  • Classes, fees and times are subject to change without prior notice and at the discretion of the instructor(s).
  • Classes without the minimum required number of enrolled participants will be canceled and refunds or credits provided.
