Spring 2018 American Red Cross Lifeguard training classes are being held in March and April. Registration can be completed online, or in person at the Pflugerville Recreation Center.

Candidates must pass the prerequisite swim test prior to first day of class.

Prerequisite Swim Test

  • 300 meter swim
    •  1 length = 25 meter, 300m = 12 lengthsarc lg 2
    • Combination of freestyle, breaststroke and sidestroke
    • No portion may be completed on back
  • Testing begins in February 2018
    • Windermere Pool, 16800 Gower Street
    • Saturdays, 10 a.m. - noon

Important note: By the first day of your scheduled class, you MUST have completed the prerequisite swim test at the Windermere Pool or you will be required to transfer to a later session. For any schedule conflicts, contact Whitney Seaton at or call (512) 990-6362.



Upon successful completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Course, participants will be certified for two years in Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED.

Completion of the course does not guarantee employment with the City of Pflugerville or any other entity requiring the American Red Cross Lifeguard Course.

2018 class registration is open! Register online or in person at the Recreation Center.

Classes are being taught in a blended learning format meaning work will be a mixture of online and in-class skill sessions. There is a 7-hour online module consisting of videos and quizzes that must have 50% completed by Friday and 100% completed by the start of class Saturday morning. The link to access this module is emailed out 1 week prior to the first meeting date. Class participants must attend all days in the session for which you are registered. Class locations are at the Pflugerville Recreation Center or Windermere Clubhouse. However, due to Gilleland Creek Pool Renovations, some water skills may be completed at a different location. Exact locations and times will be sent to class participants on the Monday prior to the first class.

Friday:  5 - 9 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday:  8 a.m. - 6 p.m.


March 23 - 25

Friday:  5 - 9 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday:  8 a.m. - 6 p.m.


April 6 - 8

Friday:  5 - 9 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday:  8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

April 20 - 22 Friday:  5 - 9 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday:  8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
May 4-6  Friday:  5 - 9 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday:  8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Classes subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.

Cost: $50 with a commitment to work for the City of Pflugerville, $200 with no commitment.
*The $50 Lifeguard Class Registration fee is only if you plan to work for the City of Pflugerville through July 21. Otherwise, class participants will pay the full Lifeguard Certification course fee of $200.
