Post Date:03/02/2018 5:00 p.m.

The Pflugerville Parks and Recreation department was honored by the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) as the Gold Medal Award winner for 2018 for our population category (50,000 - 100,000 people). The Gold Medal Award recognizes Parks and Recreation departments that excel in community engagement and environmental stewardship, development, long-term planning, programming and events.

The Gold Medal Award is one of several honors the Parks and Recreation department has received in the last several years, including recognition from Keep Texas Beautiful as a Gold Star Affiliate, the TRAPS Central Region Conservation & Volunteerism Award and the 11th consecutive year as a Tree City USA.

Over the past year, Parks and Recreation has worked on the development and construction of three new parks, increased volunteer service by over 100%, participated in environmental stewardship programs Nature Pfest and Clean-up day, increased accessibility and opportunities for seniors and celebrated our growing community at events.

Pflugerville Parks and Recreation accepted the Gold Medal award at the annual TRAPS conference on March 1 in Waco.
